Why it matters

Interviews are spoken. Most preparation is not.

  1. Reading is not rehearsing.

Model answers tell you what to say. They do not train you to say it clearly, in order, with a panel listening.

  2. Partners are hard to find.

Colleagues to practise with are scarce after a long shift, and rarer still in the weeks before interviews.

  3. Feedback rarely says what scored.

Most practice ends with “that was good”. You seldom hear which criteria you met, or what would have scored higher.

TheatrePass gives you an interviewer whenever you are ready, and feedback after every answer.

Interviews

Rehearse real interviews with an interviewer that follows up

Every specialty's stations, asked aloud and timed the way the panel runs them.

  • Interactive Learning

Answer out loud to an interviewer who listens, follows up on what you said and pushes for more.

  • Personalised Feedback

Every answer marked against the published criteria, then rewritten in your own words to score higher, with each change explained.

  • Guided Peer-practice

Practise with another applicant on a video call. One interviews, one answers, and both follow the same mark scheme.

Exams

Revise with questions that adapt and a tutor that explains

Preparation for the MSRA, MRCS and FRCS that follows what you know, and what you do not yet.

  • Adaptive Learning

Each session leads with the topics you find hardest, and brings questions back just before you would forget them.

  • AI Tutor

Ask why an answer is right, or what you missed, and get a clear explanation drawn from the revision notes.

  • Structured Resources

Revision notes organised topic by topic around the exam's own syllabus, so you always know what is left.

What is TheatrePass?

Interview and exam preparation for UK surgical training. Spoken mock interviews for every surgical specialty, marked against the published selection criteria, and adaptive revision for the MSRA, MRCS and FRCS with a tutor that explains.

How does a mock interview work?

Each mock follows your specialty's interview format. The interviewer asks each question aloud, listens to your answer and follows up on what you said, against the clock. Afterwards every answer is marked against the published criteria, with the band you reached and what would move you up a band.

Which specialties and exams are covered?

Interview preparation for Core Surgical Training, General Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Plastic Surgery, ENT, Vascular Surgery, Urology, Paediatric Surgery, Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Academic Clinical Fellowships. Exam preparation for the MSRA, MRCS and FRCS.

Is my voice recorded?

No audio is ever stored. What you say is turned into text so it can be marked, and you can delete any report from your account.

Who writes the questions and the marking?

Specialty trainees and consultant surgeons write the questions, model answers and mark schemes. Every answer is marked against the criteria published for your specialty's selection.

Is TheatrePass linked to NHS England or the Royal Colleges?

No. TheatrePass is an independent education platform, not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any organisation whose published guidance it references.
